As stated earlier students admitted to the +2 Science course at the KBRC have dual objective in their minds. Their aspiration is to perform well at the +2 Council Examinations and also to be successful in entrance examinations like AIEEE, IIX, and AIPMT etc. In actual practice succeeding in the Council Examination & various entrance tests are complementary to each other. This is because both the tests require thorough knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Perhaps a marginal difference between two examinations is that while in the Council examination the emphasis is on writing standard answers, the entrance test lays emphasis on applications aspect of the same knowledge base. Keeping this in view, the teaching-learning programme focuses on :

Concept building on each of the topics through class-room teaching, tutorials and     doubt clearing sessions.

Developing the answer writing skill for CHSE examinations by regular practice,     home assignment, regular tests.

Application of basic concepts in solving objective questions.

Exposing to solution of tougher questions of the, IIT, AIEEE, PMT level.

Time management and accuracy level in solving objective questions.

At KBRC the entire +2 Sc. course which runs for a span of nearly 2 years covering two academic sessions is designed in such a manner that the CHSE course and the JEE, AIPMT pattern of teaching-learning are integrated.

The specially designed integrated course of   KBRC makes its students different than their counterparts in traditional and other residential colleges of the state. This integrated course whet the appetite for advance learning so as to enable them to excel at +2 exam as well as to qualify at various competitive examinations. Since the entire teaching-learning method of the college is aimed at holistic development of the students, along with the core curricula, courses and practice classes in skill development, personality development, communication skill and IT are also offered.

In order to effectively implement the academic and co-curricular activities the teaching-learning process has been carefully planned and the two years period for which the student is to study, has been divided in to five phases, which ensures that even an average student can excel in all the examinations that he/she faces in life. At KBRC that entire teaching programme is basically divided into two categories viz., basic learning and advance learning. The basic learning is the foundation over which the concept of advance learning can be inculcated among students. This makes the learning method unique and vibrant. The teaching-learning is carried out in small sections consisting of 40-50 students and the section is again split into small groups consisting of about 10-15 students who are placed in charge of one proctor for taking personal care and monitoring their home assignments etc.

  PHASE I ::

This programme is of seven months duration. It starts from early July and continues till the end of January of every academic session. In this phase the basic concepts on different subjects as per +2 Sc. Syllabus is acquired by the students through teaching by a group of faculties having vast experience and expertise. They tune the young minds according to requirement of the Council exam. Along with the regular course work classes are conducted for meditation, Yoga, Personality development, Communicative English and Information Technology. During this phase while the students are equipped with basic foundation in different subjects as per the CHSE syllabus, coaching classes for JEE, IIT, AIEEE & PMT etc. are conducted from month of September with a view to promote analytical ability and application skill among the students. The performance of the student is continuously assessed through weekly tests in which questions are designed as per the pattern of CHSE examination. Fortnightly tests & monthly tests are conducted in the pattern of different entrance examinations. On the basis of performance of monthly tests, aptitude and ability of the students for entry into engineering or medical course are identified and there after special classes are organised and the progress is closely monitored.

These students are provided with well developed study material prepared by PTPL for basic learning as well as for solving problems which are given at the end of each chapter. Scholars are assigned home task to be done in the hostel and the subject teachers monitor the same in the next class. The afternoon sessions are exclusively devoted for counselling, doubt clearing and holding tutorial classes. The tutorial classes are held to do away with deficiencies of the scholars and the morning sessions are exclusively devoted   for   covering   courses   as   prescribed   by   the   council. Needless to mention that counselling classes are held in the hostel during evening hours by the faculties of the college to help the students in homework and providing any assistance that may be required in this context.

  PHASE II ::

This starts from early February and continues upto 30th May. This phase is essentially meant for revision of the course and serious preparation for entrance examination. Entrance test study materials prepared by PTPL Resource Cell are provided to the students as guide books. The students divided as per their aptitude for medical & engineering entrance test are placed under expert teachers mostly drawn from NTs for advanced learning. During this phase while weekly tests are held in the pattern of entrance examination, fortnightly and monthly tests are held in the pattern of CHSE examination.

In the weekly tests emphasis is given on application of concepts which is essential for entrance test. In order to enhance the analytical ability the number of tutorial and doubt clearing classes are increased during this phase. Mock tests are also held to remove the examination phobia of the students. This phase is critical as entire +2 1st year course is revised during this period and advanced coaching is also offered. The college closes for summer vacation from 1st June and re-opens in 1st July. Sufficient home assignment is given to the students during the   summer  vacation   so  that  they  do   not  remain   idle   during  the   period.
